Roofing

The roof sagged in the middle, and bowed out on the ridge line on both sides.
So, while all the walls were removed, I attempted to bring the house back into
square with jacks, winches and time. Without cracking any of the wood, I
installed a post running from the apex of the middle of the roof down to the
basement and jacked the middle of the roof up over 6”. The attic floor was
installed while the winches and jacks were in place, and extra supports were
added to the roof. Where the chimney was removed the roof sagged quite a
bit, so I installed two posts where the chimney was. To make this addition
look seamless, I installed a desk area at the location of these posts. There
wasn’t any venting, so a vent was installed at the apex of the roof and within the
eves. There were 3 layers of shingles, which all needed to be removed.
